Roey’s Paintbox Relocating to the Shops at City Center on The Artswalk in Downtown Allentown

Local painting-party studio Roey’s Paintbox is relocating to The Shops at City Center on the ArtsWalk. The studio will officially open in early November, although it is already accepting party reservations online. The public is invited to a preview party at Roey’s Paintbox on Monday, October 3, from 5 to 7 p.m.

Studio owner and local artist Roey Ebert stars in the educational art program “Roey’s Paintbox – Art is for Everyone,” which is produced locally by PBS 39 and airs nationally on PBS. She is excited about the new location, a 1786-square-foot space next to RE:find’s Gallery on the Walk and on the ArtsWalk with women’s clothing boutiques Sage and Aquarius and the restaurants Greenmouth Juice Bar & Cafe and the new Queen City BBQ.

“I’m thrilled to be bringing Roey’s Paintbox to the ArtsWalk in downtown Allentown amidst all of the city’s new energy and excitement,” said Ebert. “Roey’s Paintbox is really a social club where painting takes place and customers leave as friends. We’re looking forward to welcoming old friends downtown and making new friends from STRATA Flats, the offices, the hotel and the neighborhood.”

The studio will offer painting parties, which are open to individuals or private groups, on most Thursdays through Saturdays from 6 to 8 p.m. Reservations are required for the parties, where step-by-step instructions are given for creating a featured painting. Roey’s Paintbox will also offer Open Studio hours Tuesdays through Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., where customers can drop in to paint pre-drawn canvases and bring their own lunch. Roey’s Paintbox employs eight artist-teachers, including Ebert.

ROEY’S PAINTBOX: A BRIEF HISTORY

Roey’s Paintbox began in 2012 as a painting-party business, teaching first-time painters the joy of creativity using a step-by-step method. The business continues to evolve and now offers team-building activities, meditative exercises using painting techniques and confidence-building activities for children and teens.  “Roey’s Paintbox – Art is for Everyone,” was born out of the business, as was the successful art set “Roey’s Paintbox – Art Party in a Box.” These art sets were chosen as the 2016 U.S. Open Championship Player Children’s Gift and also were Capital Blue Cross’ giveaway at the 2016 Lehigh Valley Women’s Summit and its 2016 Health Care Forum.

In addition to her business and television success, Ebert is the author and illustrator of four children’s books. She is a licensed fine artist at Abbey Road Fine Art, a division of Penny Lane, and her florals and children’s art are sold to prestigious home-furnishing retailers. Ebert does monthly painting sessions with the pediatric families at Lehigh Valley Children’s Hospital, and her artwork can be seen on the windows of various children’s areas throughout the hospital. Formerly a middle school language arts teacher at Sacred Heart Elementary in Allentown, she is a self-taught artist who has turned her love for learning into a creative adventure. Ebert’s proudest accomplishment is her six children, who give her a host of imaginative ideas for all of her creative endeavors.
